Design That Supports How Your Business Operates
Commercial interior design is the art of creating a functional, efficient and aesthetically pleasing commercial space. It is an essential aspect of the commercial construction project, providing spaces that are both visually appealing to customers and comfortable for employees.
A commercial interior designer specialize in understanding a building’s purpose, working with architects and contractors to create attractive, workable commercial interiors within code requirements and budget constraints. They also keep up with changing trends to ensure they provide commercial spaces that are contemporary and reflect the most recent developments in design concepts.
Working hand in hand with clients, commercial interior designers use their experience and expertise to infuse each commercial space with its own personality while keeping the customers’ desired end-goals in mind.

Laura’s commercial interior design process is clear, collaborative, and grounded in real-world application. She hires qualified engineers, electricians, plumbers, architects, and additional contractors to ensure design decisions support both form and function.

What to consider when choosing a designer
-
When it comes to choosing the right commercial interior design business in Cleveland, there are a few key factors to consider. First, you’ll want to find an interior designer with experience working with commercial spaces. This will ensure that they have the knowledge and skills needed to create a functional and efficient design. They should also have a portfolio of previous commercial projects that you can review to get a sense of their design style and level of expertise.
At Array Design Studio, you will find all of our work on our website. Having been in the business for over 20 years, you can see how we work closely with our clients to create spaces that meet their design goals.
-
Interior design can be expensive, so it’s important to find a business that can work within your budget while still creating a beautiful and functional space. A good interior designer should be able to provide you with different options that fit within your budget and help you prioritize which elements are most important for your space.
At Array Design Studio, your budget is discussed first thing, in the pre-design phase. Whether you’re building a luxury hotel, retail stores or corporate offices, no two budgets are alike. That is why we give you an itemized list that includes things like materials, build-out, labor, and architectural detail – so you can see exactly what is being spent where. We can also include a “sushi menu” list of items that include furniture and other specialty items that you may or may not want to include in your budget.
-
Another important factor to consider is the level of service offered by the commercial interior designer. Some businesses may only offer design services, while others, such as Array Design Studio, may also offer project management and construction management services. This can be beneficial, as it allows you to have a single point of contact throughout the entire design process, ensuring that the final design is executed properly and on schedule.
-
You’ll want to find a business that can communicate effectively with you throughout the design process. A good designer should be able to listen to the needs and ideas of your project and provide you with feedback and suggestions to help bring your vision to life.
With Array Design Studio, you can expect just that – a listening ear. In the design industry, interior designers tend to involve their egos. When you work with me, I put that aside and instead make it my goal to truly help you as the client visualize your new space through clear communication.
From the very start of the programming phase, we set up a WhatsApp channel that includes the contractor, project manager, my assistants, and myself. This way, we are all on the same page and can all see what is being said in real-time.

Few commercial interior designers use Universal Design in their approach to design projects. At Array Design Studio, we see this as of the utmost importance to incorporate into a commercial design space. Many professional commercial spaces can be intimidating or cause anxiety such as the dentist, the doctor, or the accountant – we use the Universal Design Method to take away those fears and anxieties.
An example is when we designed a functional, comfortable interior space for Metro Pet, a vet clinic. When approaching this project, we evaluated what changes needed to be made so the experience for both pets, vets and pet owners that would help everyone be more comfortable and at ease.
Metro Pet wanted to relieve the high anxiety that typically happens to pets going to the vet. An example of this is putting exam tables on the floor – no more shaking on a high-top table. We added a play area for dogs to wait in to make them more comfortable before their exam. We used earthy colors in the exam rooms. We moved all the exam tools to behind closed doors so pets wouldn’t have anxiety seeing them first thing when walking into the room. These were just examples of how a thoughtful interior design process can create a more relaxed experience in what can feel like a typically stressful space.
